INTRODUCTION
My name is Adelaide Somuah Twum. I’m a 29-year-old Ghanaian woman driven by tenacity, resilience, purpose, and a passion for empowerment. I’m a model; I hold a degree in Public Relations, and I’m currently working as a Marketing Manager in Real Estate, where I combine creativity, communication, and strategy to build meaningful connections.
Growing up, I often felt insecure and was bullied for being different. For a long time, I saw those differences as weaknesses, but pageantry helped me discover that what made me feel different could become the very thing that gave me a voice.
Stop the War and Violence
To me, it means choosing compassion, understanding, and unity over hatred and division. As an empath, I believe empathy is not a weakness but a strength, and that everyone should feel free to express themselves while learning to listen to others with respect.
The Ghanaian Akan proverb, “Nsa baako nkura adesua” (one hand cannot lift a heavy load), reminds me of the broom: one broomstick is easily broken, but many together are strong. I believe peace is built when we stand together, embrace our differences, and choose love over violence. Through my voice, I hope to encourage others to make that choice every day.
For me, stopping war and violence begins with one simple choice: choosing humanity.
The 4Bs
To me, the 4Bs represent the different dimensions of a complete and purposeful woman.
Body represents the woman I embody, one of tenacity, resilience, strength, and discipline.
Brain represents knowledge, continuous growth, and the ability to think, communicate, and make meaningful decisions.
Beauty, to me, goes beyond appearance; it is reflected in how we relate to others, show compassion, and embrace our shared humanity.
Business represents ambition, leadership, and creating opportunities, which I live through my career in Marketing and as the founder of Admiire Model Academy in Ghana.
For me, the 4Bs are about being strong in body, sharp in mind, beautiful in character, and bold in purpose. They represent the belief that true success is not only about what we achieve for ourselves, but also about the doors we open for others.
PASSION TO BEAUTY PAGEANT
My Passion for Beauty Pageants
My passion for pageantry goes beyond the crown. It has been a journey of self-discovery, confidence, and growth, teaching me to embrace who I am and use my voice not only for myself, but for others who may feel unseen or unheard.
Pageantry has also introduced me to the beauty of sisterhood, connecting with women from diverse backgrounds, learning from their stories, and celebrating the diversity of our cultures. To me, it is also a platform for learning, empowerment, and purpose. I want to use that platform to inspire young women to embrace their individuality, believe in their potential, and confidently become the women they are meant to be.
