MISS GRAND
South Sudan
Akoi Arok
INTRODUCTION
Akoi Arok is a South Sudanese-Australian lawyer, community advocate, and the reigning Miss Grand South Sudan 2026. Her journey is rooted in resilience, service, and a deep commitment to creating opportunities for communities affected by inequality, displacement, and conflict.
Through her foundation, EquipED Foundation, she advocates for equity in education by providing essential school resources and creating opportunities for young people from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds. Her work reflects her belief that education is not only a pathway to opportunity, but also a foundation for stronger, more peaceful communities.
Akoi is also a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, youth development, and peace. Her support for the Stop the War and Violence movement is an extension of her belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up safely, every woman deserves the freedom to pursue her future, and every community deserves the chance to prosper without the devastating impact of conflict and violence.
As Miss Grand South Sudan 2026, Akoi hopes to use her international platform to share the story of South Sudan beyond its challenges and celebrate its people, culture, resilience, and potential, while using her voice to advocate for education, peace, and a future where young people can dream without limitation.
For Akoi, the crown is not simply a symbol of beauty; it is a responsibility to represent with purpose, serve with compassion, and advocate for change.
Stop the War and Violence
The “Stop the War and Violence” campaign represents a call to choose humanity over hatred, dialogue over destruction, and hope over fear. As someone connected to South Sudan, a country whose people have experienced the devastating effects of conflict, I understand that war is not simply a political issue; it affects real families, children, communities, and generations.
For me, supporting this campaign means using my voice to advocate for peace, dignity, and the protection of those most vulnerable to violence. It also means recognising that peace is more than the absence of war; it is creating an environment where children can access education, women can live safely, and communities have the opportunity to rebuild and thrive.
This belief is deeply connected to my work through my foundation, EquipED Foundation, which focuses on education equity. I believe education can be a powerful tool for breaking cycles of disadvantage, empowering young people, and building more peaceful and resilient communities.
As Miss Grand South Sudan 2026, I hope to use my platform to remind the world that behind every statistic is a human story and that every person deserves the opportunity to live, learn, dream, and build a future free from war and violence.
The 4Bs
To me, the 4Bs—Body, Beauty, Brain, and Business—represent the balance of the modern woman: confident in who she is, intentional about what she stands for, and ambitious about where she is going.
Body represents strength, discipline, and self-respect. It is about caring for the body as the vessel that allows her to show up fully in every aspect of her life, while embracing confidence and individuality.
Beauty represents more than physical appearance. I believe true beauty is found in character, kindness, authenticity, and the way we make others feel. It is also about proudly embracing her identity, culture, and heritage as a South Sudanese woman.
Brain represents education, knowledge, and the courage to think critically. As a lawyer and community advocate, I value lifelong learning and believe that an educated and informed woman has the power to influence change, challenge barriers, and create opportunities for others.
Business represents vision, independence, and the ability to turn ideas into impact. I am passionate about entrepreneurship, leadership, and creating initiatives that empower others, particularly through my foundation, EquipED Foundation, which focuses on education equity and opportunity.
Together, the four Bs reflect who I am and who I aspire to become: a woman who looks after herself, embraces her beauty, leads with intelligence, and builds with purpose.
I believe the most powerful woman is not one who chooses between beauty and ambition, but one who understands that she can embody both while using her success to create opportunities and leave a meaningful legacy.
PASSION TO BEAUTY PAGEANT
My Passion for Beauty Pageants
My passion for beauty pageantry extends far beyond the crown. For me, pageantry is a platform for purpose, representation, advocacy, and meaningful connection. It provides an opportunity to celebrate culture and identity while using visibility and influence to inspire others and create positive change.
My journey into pageantry has allowed me to bring together the different parts of who I am: a lawyer, community advocate, entrepreneur, woman of South Sudanese heritage, and passionate supporter of education and women’s empowerment.
As Miss Grand South Sudan 2026, I see the crown as a responsibility rather than simply an achievement. I am passionate about using the pageant platform to amplify the voices of my people, promote peace, and stand for causes that matter, while demonstrating that beauty is most powerful when it is accompanied by purpose, character, and service.
SKILLS
I am a confident communicator and public speaker with strong leadership, advocacy, and interpersonal skills. My professional background in law has developed my abilities in critical thinking, research, negotiation, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making. I am skilled in community engagement, event coordination, relationship building, project management, and working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
I am also passionate about entrepreneurship, social impact, content creation, and using digital platforms to communicate meaningful messages. Through my pageant journey, I have further developed my skills in public speaking, media engagement, stage presence, presentation, networking, and representing a country and its culture on an international platform.
My greatest strength is my ability to combine intelligence, empathy, confidence, and purpose to connect with people and turn ideas into meaningful action.
